Remind us about Davies and Brook and Daniel Humm...
Humm is chef-patron of Eleven Madison Park (three Michelin stars, topped the World's 50 Best list) and Nomad in New York. Just before Christmas, he opened his first restaurant in the UK - Davies and Brook - at Claridge's. But with barely three months service under its belt it, like every other restaurant in London, closed its doors in March for the lockdown.
So they're now doing delivery?
Yes, but with quite a different focus. When the restaurant opened it also featured its own separate bar and it's the bar food menu from there that's the kicking-off point for the new 'To Go' box.
Did someone say fried chicken?
Humm's CFC or Claridge's Fried Chicken was an immediate hit on the bar menu and they've parlayed that into an operation that works well for delivery.
So what do you get?
Think of this as the poshest bucket of fried chicken you're ever likely to get. The box is delivered in two layers - a bucket of fried chicken and then on top of that, sides and desserts. Here's what it all looks like.
Anything to drink with it?
Of course. You can choose from two of the bar's signature summer cocktails. They also have a suggested playlist they've put up on YouTube to bring the Davies and Brook vibes into your home.
OK, I want it. How much is it?
The box is £35 and while they say it's for one, we thought at least the chicken was a generous serving which would stretch to two people.
You'd expect a chef like Daniel Humm to go above and beyond when it came to moving into food-to-go and this more than delivers. Fine dining meets the joys of a fried chicken bucket. What could be better?
