They're known pretty well for their jerky (which you can buy online) and also a pop-up shop in Islington, but now Texas Joes have found a permanent home in Bermondsey.
You can expect Texan-style BBQ, all smoked over oak supplied by the venerable London Log Company in their huge rotisserie. As for that BBQ? They'll have USDA beef brisket, beef prime rib and pork shoulder, as well as mutton shoulder and ribs.They're on a mission to make mutton - a traditional Texan BBQ meat - a BBQ staple here too. At lunch you can also get brisket, pork shoulder or mutton shoulder in tacos or thick-cut sandwiches. Side dishes include bone marrow with chilli salt, oxtail chilli and brisket nachos.
And they're planning a honky tonk style bar too. As founder, Joe Walters, says "I’m also really excited about the bar area. It’s going to have the feel of an underground beer bunker where you can let a few tears fall into your drink before taking a short trip into BBQ redemption". Expect the place to be closely modelled after Texan backroad BBQ joints and, of course, plenty of Bourbon on the list too.
