What: 39 Steps Coffee Haus
In a nutshell: Top coffee served and brewed every which way
Summing it all up: Bored of watery flat whites and uninspiring lattes? We don't blame you. But now those who know their nitro from their cold brew can head to the new 39 Steps coffeeshop on Soho's happening D'Arblay Street, where head roaster Jens will be deploying his caffeine-based knowhow with beans from all over the world, plus cold press juices and a food menu that looks very promising.
Soho's getting a tidy little new coffee shop by the name of the 39 Steps Coffee Haus which will be serving more variations on the humble drink than you can shake an artisan handcarved stick at.
If you fancy yourself a bit of a coffee geek, you'll be in heaven. Aside from the many, many styles of coffee on offer, from hand brews to nitro brews to coffee milkshakes (which sound amazing, by the way) you'll also be able to take in the many different brewing styles going on behind the counter, including French Press and Syphon - a mad-looking glass vacuum contraption.
The beans sound like they'll be top notch too, picked from independent growers from India to El Salvador, before being lovingly processed into coffee by the head roaster Jens Rettig.
Those who've already maxed out their daily caffeine allowance will have the option of slightly less jittery, cold pressed juices made with fresh fruit and veg, and there'll be a well stocked food menu too.
- Pulled pork panini with tomato and cheese
- Slow-cooked lamburger with spiced tahini yoghurt
- Smoked salmon rolls with beetroot and lentils
- Orange, honey and cinnamon cheesecake
- Bitter almond and caramel Eton Mess with chocolate ganache
- Chia, tahini and berry bites
That's on top of a daily bake selection, "eggs-any-way" with your choice of topping, homemade soups, salads and sandwiches. But bear in mind there'll only be 25 covers, so if you're hoping to find a spot to pass a cold winter's afternoon nestled down in, get there early.
