Update 19/3 - unfortunately, this is no longer happening. The statement from Gavin George, the MD of Laines is as follows:
"We've been working with Natalie on the development of a menu for the Dissenting Academy for a few weeks and during that time it has become clear that our strategic visions for the pub are not aligned. After discussing this with Natalie, we have therefore agreed not to continue working together on the project. We have very much enjoyed the food she has produced and wish her the best of luck with her future projects."
Stoke Newington's bid for foodie borough of the year gets another nod with the news that Masterchef winner Natalie Coleman is taking over the food at Newington Green pub, The Dissenting Academy.
If you watched Coleman on the show you'll be pleased to know a Scotch egg will make an appearance as a starter on the menu (with piccalilli), alongside gin-cured salmon, creme fraiche and dill dressing, with cornichons and rye.
Mains will include slow roasted pork shoulder, lentils and salsa verde, plus salt baked heritage carrots, herby lentils and British feta. And she's also promising to serve up her on takes on pub classics like burgers and fish and chips, not to mention brewing her own first craft ale.
Natalie Coleman will be taking over in mid March 2015 at The Dissenting Academy, 92 Mildmay Park, London N1 4PR
