L'Amorosa opens in Ravenscourt Park run by former Zafferano Head Chef

lamorosaHaving quietly opened its doors in West London, we predict that L'Amorosa is going to get a lot busier over the coming weeks when word gets out about this neighbourhood gem. Key to that is who's in the kitchen, which turns out to be Andy Needham who was Head Chef at Zafferano for 15 years before this.

The space on King Street used to be the cafe Lola & Simón till it was bought out a few months ago by Andy who lives nearby. With room for 58 diners over two floors it serves up informal, modern Italian cooking.

On the menu you can expect to see:

  • Capocolo with fresh figs, rocket and aged balsamic
  • Tortelli of burrata with sweet prawns, chilli and oregano
  • Slow-roasted Salt Marsh lamb shoulder with hazelnut crust, polenta and porcini
  • Poached pear in red wine with mascarpone sorbet.

Those menus will change every week, with daily specials on as well. Prices for starters range from £6-£8, main courses £9-£18, and desserts £6-£7.

On the wine front, L'Amorosa's list is fully Italian with a range by the glass starting at just £3.

“Every chef wants his independence, but you have to work and learn your way to a certain point in your career when it just seems the right move,” says Andy. “A neighbourhood restaurant, where I can really get to know my customers and neighbours, is the ideal environment, and everyone seems to like easy Italian food!”
