This year, Mother's Day falls during the lockdown, this year on 14 March. But there's one way to show your mum you're thinking of them - order up a lovely delivery meal or treat and have that sent to them. Here's our pick of who's doing what - both nationwide and across London.
The Clarence Tavern (delivery within 3 miles of Stoke Newington or collection) has a three course menu (£55 for two, £75 for three) with an enticing main of pot roast chicken with artichokes and Roscoff onions served with new potatoes and wild garlic salsa verde.
Napoli Gang - All of the Big Mamma deliveries on the day will come with a packaged pot of ‘Red Rubin’ and ‘Napoletano’ basilico, ‘Calypso’ coriandolo and ‘Dukat’ aneto seeds, with instructions from independent florist Rebel Rebel n how to grow your own Italian herb garden at home.
La Fromagerie (Same day delivery zone 1) the Mother's Day meal from La Fromagerie includes Comte Sables, a Cornish seafood cocktail and Roast Baby Chicken stuffed with Porcini, Garlic & Thyme. Yes, of course, there's a cheeseboard too. It's £45.
Indulge Dining (delivery - across London) has a special menu for Mother's Day weekend. The three course meal with bread is £45 per person with a starter of wild garlic, aged Parmesan, pink fir potato and king oyster mushroom .
Tredwells (delivery 12km from central London) - they have two meal kits for Mother's Day, meat or plant based. Dishes include Short rib raviolo, Hake en papillote, Beetroot and shallot filo bites, Roasted cauliflower with caramelised cauliflower purée and more (from £34 for one, £75 for two)
The Cheese Bar (London delivery) has a special cheese and gin pack with four cheeses, each paired with a special hand crafted, artisan gin (£50)
The Connaught (collection only) - The Connaught Pattiserie has gone sugar-pink for Mother's Day, with the signature Connaught Hound made pink for the day, and there's a special cake which is shapes as a pink rose, crafted from vanilla sponge, pear, lemon curd, shortbread and Chantilly cream.
Claridge's (delivery 8 miles from Mayfair) - They're delivering their afternoon tea on the day, featuring Cornish clotted cream and Marco Polo gelée and finger sandwiches including smoked salmon with capers and Norfolk chicken with truffle parmesan. Cakes include pistachio choux, golden fruitcake, pineapple and coconut tart and more.
Officina 00 (London-wide delivery) - this box includes freshly-baked focaccia with sweet leeks, frittatina with creamy béchamel and a pasta kit which lets you make cavatelli with wild garlic pesto & pickled red chillies and pappardelle with house-made pork & fennel sausage (from £39).
Maremma (Delivery to SE and SW London) - with three courses and canapes, this Tuscan feast includes radicchio and gorgonzola ravioli, stuffed guinea fowl with pancetta (or globe artichoke filled with wild mushrooms) and more.
Benares (Delivery within M25) - The Mum's The Word menu features a whole organic roasted chicken served with a rich makhani gravy as well as coconut and curry leaf-infused wild seabass stew and more. You can also add a gift to the box - a bottle of wine, pestle & mortar or a scarf.
Hot Stone (London delivery) - The Mother’s Day Surf & Turf menu is designed by Executive Chef Padam Raj Rai with his own mother in mind, this menu features tataki and sukiyaki rolls with Kizami ponzu, made using the highest grade A5 Japanese Wagyu alongside scallops, rich fatty tuna, Hamachi and ikura topped with truffle and caviar and lots more (£295).
Hide (London delivery) - Hampers from Ollie Dabbous' HIDE include homemade strawberry & hibiscus jam, goji berry & buckwheat cookies, London honeycomb and HIDE’s artisan granola - and you can add beluga caviar and black truffle too (from £60). There's also a special Mothers Day menu with scallops, barbecue lobster and eclairs (£75).
Clipstone & Portland (Delivery up to 15k from Fitzrovia) Meal for two for £85. It's three courses with bread, snacks like white bean and wild garlic hummus and almond pithivier for dessert and petit fours.
COYA (London delivery) - are sending out a G&Tea cocktail kit (£40) on Mother's Day Weekend. The cocktail in question serves four and features Bombay Bramble gin, St. Germain Elderflower Liqueur, hibiscus flower tea, orange, pimento dram allspice liqueur and the kit also includes a citrus Tarta de Queso. Order by email before 10 March for delivery on 13 March.
Mortimer House (Delivery within M25) - chef Lello Favuzzi's Sardinian childhood has inspired his Italian-style feast for Mother's Day (£85 for two). With saddle of lamb, a sea salted caramel tart and Elderflower collins among the treats. Order from 2 March.
Pied a Terre - For vegan or veggie mums, the Vegan Feast from Pied a Terre is quite the treat - with dishes like Gnocchi with Wild Garlic & Calcot Onions, skordalia made with cauliflower and Gariguette Strawberry Pannacotta with Basil for dessert. It's £50 for two.
Kitty Fisher's - Bundle of Joy features a three course meal including cocktail, canapés and petit-fours. There's also a floral welcome card from JamJar Edit, a 50-hour burn scented candle from Raine Design & a Bix organic cheese from the award-winning Nettlebed Creamery. It's £135 for two.
Tom Brown - The Cornerstone chef is sending out a one-off seafood brunch which includes Cornerstone classics for you to recreate at home: Salmon pastrami, cold smoked chalk steamed trout and hake sausages, cod pancetta, crab rarebit, crumpets and more as well as a bottle of Billecart-Salmon Champagne for a Champagne breakfast.
Claude Bosi at Bibendum - The two Michelin-starred restaurant is delivering a Mother's Day feast which includes black leg chicken, morel mushrooms, vin jaune and black truffle sauce as the main course (£115)
Wright Bros - What mum wouldn't be glad to put her feet up and enjoy a nice martini on Mother's Day? The Noilly Prat 50:50 martini kit (£40) includes a bottle of Noilly Prat Original Dry, a bottle of Wright Brothers Half Shell Gin, distilled with oyster shells, a pot of olives and a recipe card.
Galvin at Home - Galvin's Mother's Day feast includes Nocellara olives & home-baked rosemary focaccia, buffalo mozzarella, blood orange & beetroot and a roast highland chateaubriand - and you can add caviar. A vegetarian option is available too (from £50).
Townsend - Their special menu includes salt-baked trout, roast leg of lamb with sides and rhubarb and apple crumble and Jersey cream to finish. There's a vegetarian version available and you can also add a cheese plate (from £58).
Quality Chop House - There's a focus on minimal cooking in the QCH MOthers Day box. It includes Pastrami salmon, Slow roast lamb shoulder, Basque cheesecake with stewed rhubarb and you can add on Champagne and caviar (£80).
The Wolseley - Their breakfast in bed box includes Champagne, eggs and smoked salmon, raspberry truffles, sourdough, marmalade and more. It even includes AA Gill's Breakfast at the Wolseley book.
Aulis - Simon Rogan's London restaurant has a three-course meal for £45 with a gorgeous sounding dessert of Muscavado Sponge, Caramel Sauce seasoned with ‘Our Miso’ Granny Smith Apple. There are also wine flights and bouquets of flowers available as add-ons. Delivery 12 and 13 March.
Selfridges - The Ultimate Mother’s Day Treat Box (£165) is a three-course meal for two, created and prepped by Selfridges’ in-house chefs. Dishes include burrata and marinated tomatoes with seasoned sourdough crumbs along with a raspberry and rose macaroon and the box includes candles and bespoke place name cards. Order by 7 March.
Hame by Adam Handling - Adam's Mother's Day meal kit (£200) includes a dish he devised for his own mum with celeriac, dates and apples. IT also includes lobster wagyu, truffle stuffed roast chicken and a bottle of English sparkling wine.
Fortnum & Mason - Fortnums are promising favourite child status for anyone who sends their mu their Mother's Day Tea Basket (£75). It includes Victoria Grey Tea, Traditional Shortbread Rounds, Pink Marc de Champagne Truffles, Victoria Plum Preserve and their own label Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Champagne.
Chef Tom Cenci - is making special Ginger & Rose rocky roads for Mother's Day. They're made using dark chocolate from Montezuma by repurposing imperfect truffles that can’t be reworked, helping alleviate food waste and 10% from each sale goes to the charity Children on the Edge. (£12 a box)
