Sambal to Go takeaway opens on Holloway Road

With the end of restrictions on restaurants within sight (we hope) we're starting to see a lot of businesses plan for a return to some sort of normality. That's certainly happened for North London restaurateur Mandy Yin who's been vocal during the pandemic about the strains placed on small businesses, particularly by unsympathetic landlords.

Writing to customers last week, she revealed that she'd decided to close Nasi Economy Rice - her Malaysian rice box takeaway. That opened next door to her restaurant, Sambal Shiok, just as Covid hit last spring. But, on the upside, the space has now turned into Sambal To Go. As Mandy explains, it will serve up "a magical combination of our laksas, fried chicken AND Nasi's rice boxes which went down so well last year.

"Takeaway laksa proved so popular last year that we are moving our core product into a more spacious, better equipped permanent home. This is because when Sambal Shiok the restaurant reopens in May, we will not be able to service the takeaway arm from the restaurant's tiny kitchen."

Sambal To Go will serve up all their most popular laksas, along with snacks like Malaysian fried chicken with peanut sauce, black bean tofu, rice boxes and slices of their amazing chocolate cardamon cake. It's also going to be available for delivery too.
