The Berkeley adds multicoloured beach huts for alfresco dining

When the first lockdown ended, The Berkeley was one of the first to completely reinvent its outside space, turning the back of the hotel into The Garden - a rather beautiful alfresco restaurant. Now, as we emerge from the latest lockdown, they've come up with a new innovation - beach huts in Knightsbridge.

Taking inspiration from the beachfronts of Whitstable and Southwold, they're adding rainbow-coloured beach huts that seat six and, most importantly, because they're alfresco they'll be open for dining from 12 April. The menu is inspired by the beach theme too - with whole grilled lobsters, freshly-shucked oysters, scampi and octopus. There's also a seaside benedict, smoked salmon and caviar and for dessert ice cream sandwiches and ‘make your own’ Eton Mess.

To book the huts, you'll have to be a group of up to six booking it for "private" dining and there is a minimum spend of £500 for the table. However, if that's a bit above your budget, there will be further alfresco table dining on the terrace, in addition to the huts. So if you're after something new and special as you emerge from lockdown - this could do the trick.
