What: Mo Diner
In a nutshell: Momo opens a diner next door
Summing it all up: Next door to Momo in Mayfair (and referred to as its "playful cousin") Mo Diner takes the American diner concept on a spin through the Med - both with the look and the twist to all the food.
They've only just re-opened Momo after a huge revamp, and also added a destination cocktail bar downstairs - and now Mourad Mazouz, the man who's also behind Sketch and Restaurant 404, is getting ready to open Mo Diner right next door.
The new restaurant is styled like a 30s American diner, but one that's then been given a Mediterranean-style overhaul. So the shape will have a diner feel, but with a bright yellow Moroccan tiles, a "glowing palm tree sky light box" and a "cacti filled conservatory" among other touches.
As for the food - it's an all-day restaurant with breakfast and brunch featuring dishes with a Mediterranean twist including:
- Mo Hash Browns with pomegranate and brown sauce
- Berber Pancakes with fig marmalade and almonds
- Moroccan khlea with beef, eggs and green chermoula
- Eggs Florentine with spinach, mulukhiyah and aleppo hollandaise.
As for the rest of the menu, there's:
- Lobster rock ‘n’ roll
- Loulou’s chicken wings
- Merguez in a blanket
- Grilled octopus with saffron aioli
- Spiced cauliflower with pomegranate and almonds
- Om Ali bread pudding and Hibiscus, rhubarb and basil cheesecake
As well as wine and beer, they'll have smoothies, milkshakes, hard shakes and more.
And it sounds like Mazouz has really gone to town on the deisgn. It takes in a number of designers including the overall creative by Brian Roettinger and Willo Perron via WP&A (who have designed tours by JayZ and Florence and the Machine). It'll also see 50 photos by photographer Hugo Scott, jewellery by Tatty Devine, T-Shirts for the staff by Sonia Tahouid, and an illustration by Yue Wu on the staircase. So yes, it'll definitely look impressive.
