Elizabeth Haigh launches a two month residency at Mortimer House


If you’ve been wondering where Elizabeth Haigh, the chef that won a Michelin Star at Pidgin, was going to pop up next, then you’ll be glad to hear she has a new central London residency starting in May. While we wait for her first permanent restaurant, you’ll soon be able to to catch her new eight week residency at Mortimer House, a member’s club and workspace in Fitzrovia.

Head Chef Lello Favuzzi, who recently joined Mortimer House Kitchen, will continue to oversee the main restaurant on the ground floor, whilst Elizabeth will be the first guest chef of a planned series of a takeovers in the Living Room, upstairs at Mortimer House.

Elizabeth’s menu will draw on her Singaporean and British background with dishes set to include Ox Cheek Rendang buns with fermented sambal; Udon Vongole with pickled wild garlic; Barbecue aged beef with black sesame béarnaise; Fried carrot cake with sambal belachan chilli; and Miso and kaya “toast” caramel ice-cream. The dish that’s really caught our eye however is the truffled roti with curried lamb sweetbreads – we’ll happily be heading down there just to try that.

The residency will be running Thursday - Saturday each week and you’ll definitely need to book in advance. As well as a la carte there will also be a set menu of £45 for five courses which seems like pretty decent value.
